What is a friendship journal?
A friendship journal is an app for keeping track of the people in your life — birthdays, memories, conversations, and milestones with friends and family — rather than your own inner thoughts like a traditional diary. BuddyLog is a friendship journal for iOS: you log the time you spend with people, save notes and quotes, and get reminders to check in before too much time passes.
Is BuddyLog a personal CRM?
Not really. Personal CRMs like Dex are built for large professional networks, with automated syncing from LinkedIn, email, and calendars. BuddyLog is built for a much smaller circle — the friends and family you actually care about — and everything is entered manually and on purpose, because the point isn't automating a network, it's paying attention to specific people.
Is BuddyLog free?
Yes. BuddyLog is free to download with no limit on the number of people or events you can log. Premium adds iCloud sync, full statistics, quotes, anniversaries, and PDF/JSON export — but the core journal is free forever.
Is my data private?
Yes. Your data is stored locally on your device. If you're on Premium and enable iCloud sync, it syncs privately through your own iCloud account — we never have access to it. There's no account or sign-up required to use the app.
Is BuddyLog available on Android?
Not yet — BuddyLog is currently iOS only, on iPhone and iPad. If you'd like an Android version, let us know — demand helps us prioritize it.
How is BuddyLog different from a contacts or notes app?
A contacts app stores static info like phone numbers, and a notes app isn't built around people at all. BuddyLog is designed specifically to log how a relationship unfolds over time — events, notes, quotes, first encounters, and anniversaries all live on a person's profile, and a note tagged to multiple people automatically shows up on every profile involved.
